Elevation view

A view looking horizontally at one face of the object. Front, back, left, and right elevations are the standard set, plus the top is often called the plan.

An elevation view looks horizontally at one face of the object, showing what you'd see from outside the property looking in (front elevation), from inside looking out (back elevation), or from either side (left/right elevations).

For a gate, the front elevation is the showpiece view: it shows the batten or slat layout, the dimensions in width and height, the latch and hinge positions, and any visible hardware. The side elevation shows depth: post depth into ground, frame thickness, drop bolt projection.

CAD60 generates front, side (left or right depending on the model), and top elevations as standard, all dimensioned and projected from the same 3D solid model.
