A sliding gate is usually built wider than the opening. The overlap allowance is the extra width added on each side so the closed gate laps past the post or fence and leaves no see-through gap. A common amount is 50 to 150 mm per side.
Without it, the gate would be exactly as wide as the opening, and you would see a slot of daylight down each edge when it is closed.
In CAD60 you set the left and right overlap on their own. Type your clear opening, add the overlap you want on each side, and the gate is drawn at the full width with the overlaps built in.
