Quoting a fence looks simple until you do forty a month. Every run needs posts, panels or rails, infill, gates, hardware, concrete and labour, and every customer wants the number today. That is why so many fencers go looking for software.
The tools sold to Australian fencers fall into three groups: job management apps that quote any trade, apps built for fencing, and free calculators from fence suppliers. This guide covers what each one does, what it does not do, and where a fabrication drawing fits in. Every product was checked on its own website in October 2026.
What you need to know
- Tradify, Fergus, ServiceM8 and Simpro quote from price lists and templates, not from a fence take-off.
- Fencify and FencingOS are built for fencing and include fence runs, gates and materials.
- Supplier calculators give a free materials estimate, but only for that supplier's products.
- None of these tools draws a custom gate or panel for the workshop.
- A drawing with a cutting list makes the materials side of a quote far more exact.
What does fence quoting software actually do?
Most of it does two jobs: it works out what the fence costs, and it sends the customer a neat quote they can accept. The difference between tools is how much of the first job they do for you.
- Job management apps hold your price list, build a quote from line items, then carry the job through scheduling, invoicing and payment. You still work out how many posts and panels the run needs.
- Fencing apps know what a fence run is. You save your fence types and parts, and the quote is built around runs, gates and materials.
- Supplier calculators turn your run lengths into a list of that supplier's parts. Good for a materials check, not a full quote.
If you want the maths behind a take-off, our pool fence panel calculator guide walks through panels, posts and gaps by hand.
Which fence quoting tools are used in Australia?
Here is what each vendor says on its own site, at the time of writing (October 2026). Prices are only shown where the vendor publishes them in Australian dollars.

Published prices: Fergus starts from A$53 a month per user. Fencify lists $49 a month or $499.95 a year. FencingOS lists its Ultra plan at A$99 a month. Tradify charges per user per month and links to its price page. Simpro asks you to book a demo.
Can Tradify, Fergus, ServiceM8 or Simpro quote a fence?
Yes, but they quote it like any other trade job. None of their sites mention a fence take-off. You build the quote from line items, so you need to know the quantities first.
- Tradify has a page for fencing businesses. Quotes come from saved templates and price lists you can import as a CSV file. It syncs with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks.
- Fergus covers quoting, job cards, scheduling and invoicing for trades. It lists an estimating and take-off link with GroundPlan.
- ServiceM8 handles jobs, quotes, invoices and payments from phone and tablet apps, with a free plan for one user.
- Simpro is a bigger field service platform, with detailed estimates and live supplier pricing. Its site leads with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, security and fire.
What do fence-specific tools add?
They are built around fence runs and gates, so you quote the fence the way you measured it.
- Fencify calls itself software for Australian fencing contractors. Quotes include fence runs, gates, materials, labour, GST and margin. You save fence types and parts ahead of time, and a concrete calculator works out volume from the number of holes. It links to Xero and QuickBooks.
- FencingOS offers an instant fence quote priced from your own catalogue, an advanced quote with take-off, waste, labour and markup, and a materials list of posts, rails, infill and gates. Customers can accept and pay a deposit online.

Both are smaller products than the big job management apps. Ask for the demo and quote one of your recent jobs in it before you commit.
Are supplier fence calculators good enough to quote from?
They are a good free check. Oxworks, for example, has calculators for Colorbond, aluminium slat and frameless glass fencing. You set up each run, pick the style and colour, and get a plan and a parts list you can add to a cart.
The limits:
- They only list that supplier's products.
- The supplier itself calls the result an approximate estimate.
- They do not add your labour, margin or travel.
- Custom gates and made-to-measure panels sit outside them.
Use them to sanity check your own numbers, not as the quote itself.
Where do drawings fit in a fence quote?
Quoting software prices a fence. It does not draw one. For a standard Colorbond run that is fine. For a fabricated job, such as an aluminium slat fence with a matching gate, panels stepped down a slope or a custom batten pattern, a drawing does three things for the quote:
- It fixes the materials. A cutting list tells you every length, which beats a per-metre guess.
- It shows the customer what they are buying. Fewer "that is not what I meant" calls after the job.
- It goes straight to the workshop once the quote is accepted.
This is the gap CAD60 fills. You pick a fence run, panel or gate from its catalogue, type the sizes and get the full drawing set in 60 seconds, with a cutting list and a cost estimate. It does not send quotes, book jobs or invoice, so it sits beside your quoting app rather than replacing it. It also only draws the models in its catalogue. See fence design software for other drawing options, and how to quote a fabrication job for putting the numbers together.
How do you choose fence quoting software?
Start with what slows you down now.
| If your problem is | Look at |
|---|---|
| Quotes, jobs and invoices all over the place | Tradify, Fergus or ServiceM8 |
| A bigger team with complex estimates | Simpro |
| Working out fence quantities takes too long | Fencify or FencingOS |
| Checking a materials order | Your supplier's calculator |
| Custom gates and panels need drawings and cut lists | A drawing tool such as CAD60, next to your quoting app |
Check three things before you pay: it handles GST the way your accountant wants, it syncs with your accounting software, and it works on the phone you carry on site. Most of the tools above offer a trial, a demo or a free plan, so test one on a real job.
Common questions
Is there free fence quoting software in Australia?
ServiceM8 has a free plan for one user and 30 jobs a month. Supplier calculators like Oxworks are free for a materials estimate. Tradify and Fergus offer 14-day free trials.
Does Tradify do fence take-offs?
Its fencing page does not mention one. Tradify quotes from saved templates and price lists you import. You work out the posts, panels and rails, then build the quote from them.
What is the difference between Fencify and Tradify?
Fencify is built for fencing, with fence runs, gates and a concrete calculator in the quote. Tradify is general job management for many trades, with quoting, scheduling and invoicing.
Can I quote a fence from my phone on site?
Yes. Tradify, Fergus and ServiceM8 all list iPhone and Android apps. Measure the run, build the quote from your template and send it before you leave.
Does CAD60 send quotes?
No. CAD60 makes the drawing set, the cutting list and a cost estimate for the models in its catalogue. You send the quote from your own quoting or job management software.
How do I price a custom aluminium gate in a fence quote?
Price it from a cutting list, not per metre. Add up the tube and infill lengths, hinges, latch and finish, then add your labour. A drawing gives you that list in one go.
