Magna Latch is a brand-name product (D&D Technologies, Sydney) that has become generic shorthand for any magnetic top-pull pool-gate latch. The latch body sits at the top of the gate or post, well above the AS1926.1 minimum 1500 mm latch height. The magnet pulls the latch tongue closed automatically as the gate self-closes.
Two versions dominate. The Magna Latch Series 3 is the standard residential pool latch, with a key lock for security. The Top Pull is the standard latch with a high pull-knob for adult use only. Both meet AS1926.1 self-latching requirements when paired with self-closing hinges.
Installation pitfall: the magnet won't pull the latch closed if the gate is out of alignment by more than about 5 mm. If your latch isn't catching every time, check gate plumb and stile-to-post gap before blaming the hardware.
